Turning point..

I did my first year of computer science in Lebanon.
Unfortunately a country where connections make all the difference.

You could be the best student. The student that works the hardest and have all the intelligence to show for it, but there will always be someone that will be able to get the same result as you or higher if he has the right connections.

It's really sad because there is always this feeling of corruption, not only in politics, but everywhere.

Although I really enjoyed my year in Lebanon, learned a lot, met a lot of interesting people and I don't regret it, but I knew if I wanted to make a difference, be successful, I had to leave.

A lot of people still hang out there because they believe that Lebanon can change. They believe it can rise up again in a couple of years to be a country of opportunity. I don't blame them. Who knows they might be right.

There's the forgiving Lebanon and the hateful one...the peaceful and the chaotic...there is the beautiful land and the cursed territories...there's the rivers but there is also the destruction...the sun and the pollution...the good and the desperate...the truth is we act upon what we have, and unfortunatly what we have needs reconstruction...in order to bring change, you need to set up a new way of doing things, a whole new institution...and the person that is willing to take up the challenge will surely be criized, held down and insulted at first...but he would be a good leader...We could all be leaders some day, and it starts today, by making others feel bigger and not smaller.
Have faith!

the truth of the matter is that corruption is everywhere.
by nature most people are selfish, and will do anything to get ahead in life.
Its wrong and unfair, but it happens; and its sad to know that sometimes there really
is nothing you can do about it.

Bravo rhanda, I feel the same and would like to have faith that one day we all go back to our country Lebanon and live peacefully.
