SUPINFO International University

I never did an article about my school so going to dedicate some time and write about the university that’s helping build my career.

My school is often criticized by its marketing and teaching methods. It’s probably the first school in France to ever distinguish what’s computer science related and what’s not. ( In most universities you’d be hammered with none CS related courses the first 2 years and a little of ACTUAL related courses).

Being in a competitive world, SUPINFO certainly marked its territory all over France and internationally (China, UK , USA , Canada etc..).

A lot of people (specially teachers or students outside of the school) talk about SUPINFO like it’s an money pumping enterprise because of all the partnerships it has with other companies like Microsoft , Oracle, Cisco and much more. The fact is companies do decide the trends, and if your university doesn’t follow that – you will be left behind!

A lot of talented students have graduated from SUPINFO, and still a lot to come; Imagine Cup (Worldwide tournament organized by Microsoft) is one of the best examples of innovating students showing their talents;and somehow every year SUPINFO proves it self as a competitive leader.

Like every university, there are ups and downs;

It’s every SUPINFO students job to actually make these ups count more, make it work for the best and build up his own path of opportunity and not actually wait for it to happen.

Speaking of which, I’m going to stop bragging about my university and go back to work (yes I make my career happen) hoping the retweets on SUPINFO will calm down!

Moving forward.

by Rod
16. October 2009 13:01

Naturally people are afraid of change, afraid of moving forward; knowing it’s hard to predict what’s going to happen next.

Wether it’s on a business or personal level, one intend to hang on to a past, a routine of doing things which can blind from future opportunities; Dipping your toes into undiscovered grounds is often a challenge, obstacles from the past might appear, doubts about how things might of turned out if you hadn’t taken your shot.

So you ask yourself is it all worth it ?

Embrace change!

Comfort zone.

by Rod
24. September 2009 13:41

After a while of hard work into proving yourself, always learning to stay on top of things, you find yourself in a comfort zone; where day to day issues once considered as challenges become uninteresting minor obstacles.

When realizing you are in a comfort zone, you wonder: should I stay in that comfort zone?  Is it worth slowing my climb?

Naaaa still early, think I’ll take on a few new challenges; might make things worthwhile.

Motivation HOMMIE

by Rod
26. June 2009 00:15

Like countless and millions of people, you often find yourself telling yourself: “Argh, I’ll just do it another time.”

If you’re lucky you’d have people to push you and tell you: “Just do it now”.

In return you’d do the same thing towards them when their lazy side kicks in.

We all know that a series of: “Argh , I’ll just do it another time.” Can lead to: “Damn, I messed up, I should of done it when I had the chance to”.

This is a reminder of what I have to do this summer in order not to finish up saying: “Damn I missed up.”

So for now I’m pushing everyone I know to do what they have planned to do this summer and not procrastinate; push me so I can push you!

Want to be my motivation HOMMIE?

Drawn future or…Career with a big C?!

by Rod
31. May 2009 03:27

I’m sure everyone has come across these questions at least one time :

Do I do what’s best for me ?

Do I do what I’m best at ?

Do I do what I like ?

If you’re a lucky person, you’d have the same answer to these 3 questions. If not then what do you actually do?

I’ve seen people I met or know from school already have their future written like if it was a detailed step by step guide of “how to choose an easy/simple future”, most of the time they didn’t even chose their path but they’ve been told that’s what they are supposed to do.

Whereas others look for what they truly like and go for it even when everyone would be reminding it’s not the best thing to do.

And yet, how many of us have the dream job we had in mind? How many of us have the same answer to these 3 questions?

Can it be possible to just have the answer for the 3rd question and make it work with time and effort on the first two?

Yes it is possible.

What kind of employee are you?

by Rod
24. May 2009 00:20
  • Are you the kind of employee that’s in it for the the money and comfortable office?
You’ll be at work 9:00 AM, start on the coffee machine for a couple of minutes and won’t be operational before 9:30 AM ? And one of the firsts out as soon as it’s time to go home?
  • Are you the kind that knows no time boundaries, day can be night, you’ll work as long as the problem/ challenge you’re facing isn’t solved?

Have a life or code?

by Rod
19. May 2009 23:43

A lot of people say :

  • Usually when a coder stops coding for 6 months, it’s hard / impossible for him to come back.
  • Some people that were under pressure for 20-30 years have a nervous breakdown(only towards computers) and ultimately reject coding afterwards.

Check out what Google CEO Eric Schmidt has to say :

/News/145402,get-a-life-turn-off-the-computer-and-become-human-again-says-google-ceo.aspx

I don’t really have a strong opinion on that subject, I am sure a lot of people didn’t have breakdowns, I’m sure a lot of people came back to coding after 6 months without finding it hard and finally I’m sure you can both have a life and be the best in development !

Gigantic Impact.

by Rod
15. May 2009 01:01

I’ve always wanted to try out windows live writer, when you want to install windows live messenger, it always asks you if you want to install it, and I finally did.

I find it awesome.

It detects your blog’s settings on its own!

Not only it works on .NET platforms like SharePoint and more; but also works on none .NET applications like WordPress, Drupal and others.

With Windows Azure’s buzz and innovative technologies seeing daylight every minute, following everything is such a hard task, specially making up the time to learn these new things.

But I try my best!.

Coming to think of it, Microsoft’s impact on technology is gigantic, not forgetting Google’s impact, I hope that one day I can participate and be part of these enormous impacts in technology!

Work for a million!

by Rod
9. May 2009 21:41

I bought once a lottery ticket with my friends for fun; we had the usual conversation topic everyone probably has when first buying a lottery ticket :

What would you do with 1 million Euros?

Give it to my parents, stay in school and finish my studies?
Invest in myself, build a company from scratch?
Spend like crazy, and end up with no money in a couple of months?
Give half to charity?
Put everything in a bank and live off the interest?
............
.......
...

I can keep asking these questions, daydream about it and waste time, OR i can start getting ideas, innovating and work on getting 1 million euros!
